The Hanged Man is a card that symbolises the need to pause, let go and sometimes surrender control, to gain a new perspective.

This card suggests that sometimes, stopping or even taking a step back will give you a greater insight and understanding, than it would pushing onward. Looking at the matters from a different viewpoint might lead to surprisingly creative new solutions.

The Hanged Man sometimes shows that making certain sacrifices may be the only way to a greater good. This could involve putting personal desires aside for the sake of others or for a larger purpose.

This card can also signify a transitional phase in your life or the lives of the ones close to you. Situation may feel stagnant, but this period seems necessary for growth. It encourages you or the ones you love to embrace this pause as an opportunity for introspection.

A word of caution: Oftentimes we are our worst enemy. The Hanged Man card may indicate your impatience with other’s opinions or refusal of taking a wider look at things, and it’s causing you to tie your own hands. This card reminds you that you shouldn’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and take a look outside your box. If things still look right, go ahead. If the don’t now, you should investigate why. In either case, you now have more information to work with, than you had in your initial position. And that’s always useful.
